Environmental College Young Professional Engineer of the Year

The 2011 Young Environmental Engineer of the Year award is presented by the Environmental College of Engineers Australia to acknowledge and reward young environmental engineers who have:

1.   Engineering competence
2.   Demonstrated leadership skills including leadership of teams
3.   Positive/notable outcomes from their engineering work
4.   Creativity/innovation
5.   Community service to industry, the profession and/or society
 
The Environmental College is currently undertaking a project to define the graduate outcomes for environmental engineering for the next 10 years and is looking for input from young environmental engineers. 
 
To apply for the award, provide the following:
  • Your curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages); and
  • A supporting statement (maximum 1500 words) which is to address how adequately your current role in environmental engineering contributes towards the criteria for this award. In your statement please demonstrate your leadership skills, how your role has made a positive impact to your engineering work and any notable outcomes or innovations as a result. Please demonstrate areas of community service to the industry, the profession and/or society.
 
Prize:
  • First Prize = entry to the 2011 Society for Sustainability and Environmental Engineering (SSEE) International Conference in Brisbane (including accommodation and flights, prize valued up to $2500). The winner’s article will also be published in the Environmental College’s quarterly national journal, The Environmental Engineer.
  • 3 x Runner-up Prizes = a 12 month SSEE membership
 
Eligibility criteria:
To be eligible to apply, entrants must be a financial member of Engineers Australia and:
  • be a practising engineer that graduated less than 5 years ago;
  • be eligible for membership with the Environmental College; and
  • currently reside in Australia.
